Kyger Open Space is an approximately 150-acre parcel west of downtown Windsor that is on the northwest corner of State Highway 392/Main Street and WCR-13/Colorado Boulevard. The property contains a water storage reservoir and associated pump infrastructure, open fields, drainages and wetlands, open fields, and paved and unpaved trails.

Kyger is home to mature trees, waterfowl and migratory birds, deer, small mammals, reptiles, fish and other aquatic species, and a pair of bald eagles that nests nearby. Current uses of the site include walking, bird watching, running, and biking. Fishing and watercraft are not allowed on the reservoir.

The Kyger Open Space Master plan project explored choices regarding the level of use and development of the site. Several iterations of online public input surveys were used to help us make a decision on the future plans of Kyger Reservoir's Open Space and Trails. Thanks to over 300 participants for sharing their feedback and informing this site plan.

The final plan will go before Town Board for final adoption sometime in the spring of 2022.
