April 2026 Update
The Town continues to advance its Low-Cost Safety Improvement Program, focusing on practical, cost-effective strategies to enhance traffic safety across the community. These improvements prioritize measures such as updated signage and pavement markings, improved sight distance, signal timing adjustments and targeted speed management solutions.
As part of this effort, Town staff have begun data collection and evaluation at several key locations, including:
- 11th St near Grand Ave
- 7th St at Hemlock St, Garden Dr, and Stone Mountain Dr
- Garden Dr at 3rd St
- Dakota Way between CR 21 and Hollister Lake Rd (Sundance Dr)
- Walnut St
- Green River Dr
A major area of focus in 2026 is improving safety around schools. Planned enhancements aim to address pedestrian crossings, parking and visibility conflicts, roadway striping, speeding concerns, updated signage, and landscaping improvements to create safer routes for students, families and staff.
In addition, Town staff are currently compiling the 2026 Traffic Crash Report, which analyzes crash trends and traffic data from across the community. Once complete, this report will help identify priority areas where low-cost improvements can be implemented to reduce the risk of crashes and improve overall roadway safety.
