In 2023, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) was awarded the Federal Section 130 Grant which is to impose safety measures to the railroad crossing and crossing roadway approach on WCR 17. In addition to roadway and crossing safety improvements, the crossing will also turn into a quiet zone.

This project is in collaboration with Great Western Railway, who is also working with CDOT. The grant will cover the cost of the railway and roadway improvements. The Town will be responsible for funding of the railroad exit gates, which will make the crossing quite zone compliant.
