The 7th St. and Walnut St. multimodal enhanced construction will focus on three different aspects to improve the corridor for all pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists, but only one aspect will undergo construction in 2024. The other two aspects; which are water line replacement and roundabout installation isn’t anticipated until 2025.

Hardening improvements will make bicycle and pedestrian crossings safer and more permanent at the intersection of 7th St. and Walnut St. to make it more comfortable for all users.

The intersection of 7th St. & Walnut St. will undergo intersection improvements starting on Wednesday, July 17 until early August that will close down southbound travel throughout the duration of construction. Northbound 7th St. will remain open but some lane shifts will occur. The decision to close the southbound lane entirely was made to keep the northbound left turn lane onto Main St. accessible and prevent future intersection closures.

There are going to be significant delays during this time. Commuters are recommended to detour via Eastman Park Dr. to CO 257. Make sure you leave early if 7th St. is part of your commute!
