What is being constructed?

CLRWTA will be constructing approximately 20 miles of underground pipeline and a state-of-the-art water treatment facility, anticipated to be operational by 2030.

How much will this project cost ratepayers/communities/taxpayers?

More information on impacts to current ratepayers will be evaluated through additional studies and communicated as information becomes available. Each entity will establish different pay rates and customers are encouraged to review information provided by their water provider or contact them with any questions.

Why is this project needed at this time?

In addition to acquiring new water supplies, water conservation and efficiency play a critical role in solving the region’s water challenges, but it’s simply not enough to support the future growth of our region.

CLRWTA entities encourage their customers to do their part through tools and incentives that reduce existing water demand and expenses including non-potable outdoor water systems, water-wise plant and turf choices, and residential water audits.

What is the raw water source that will be delivered to the treatment plant?

CLRWTA participating entities are among the 15 Front Range participants in Northern Water’s Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP). As part of this project, Cache la Poudre River water will be stored in Glade Reservoir and delivered to the CLRWTA treatment plant where it will be treated and then distributed to the four entities through a shared CLRWTA-treated water underground pipeline.
